E-mails from South America #8

Here is most of the e-mail that I recieved this afternoon. One of the most touching ones so far...

Sunday Afternoon
I am sorry that i did not write last night. By the time we got back all the internet places were closed. Yesterday morning TIm made some final statements on leadership and i took lots of notes. it was very good and afterwards the people shared their appreciation. after this we ate lunch and it was very good. then we went to go get some gifts and the store had lots to choose from. i hope i made some good choices. after this we went back to juan's house but on the way we picked up some ice cream. later, tim went to a meeting for a discussion on youth and music. they wanted him to help out with their problems. from what i heard he did a great job of helping them solve their problems and pretty sternly too. During this time i played with juan's wife's sister's children. His nephew (elian)and neice. I believe that just recently the childrens mother had been left by the father. it is a very sad situation. but me and the kids played volleyball and soccer together. it was hilarious. i drew some pictures for them after this and it made them laugh. we read the story of sampson and they helped me with my spanish. then we went around the kitchen naming things in english and spanish. they really seemed to enjoy helping. i probably am like an infant to them. anyhow, after the meeting was over, we went out to eat with a man named ricky cajas. we went out to a pizza place and it was definitely one of the best pizzas i have ever had- ham and pineapple. the put pepper on top with no sauce and it was just right. i wish that you could taste it. later we went to the park because the ninos wanted me to come play and so we did. later i was told how special it was for me to take the time to play with them and how much it meant. This morning we went to the church service and we sang a ton and people gave testimony and thanks for the conferences. also, a man came forth and repented before the whole church and wife and son. the Lord had broken him, and he came before everyone with tears and explained that he had been in sin. i have never seen this before. but it was genuine, it was real and before everyone. miriam (our translator) pointed out that it was great timing that this happened after the conference and that they will know how to encourage them and bring him help him with his walk with the Lord. Later everyone said goodbye, and gave tim and me presents. i got a cool t-shirt with puyo and ecuador written on it with all kinds of animals. it is really neat. after the service we did not even have time to eat, it is 6 p.m. here and we still have had not much of anyhting. we left puyo in a rush (stressful) after the service we darted out running into the house and snatching our things (hoping not to leave anything) and running to the bus stop with all of our stuff. the bus did not arrive for another ten minutes :). But we said our goodbyes to the family and hopped on. the bus ride back was fine but it lasted around 5 hours. we talked, i listened to music and finally we are back here in quito staying in missionary housing. it is very very nice here. here they have high speed and we have a bathroom in our room. i will have to take a picture. we are getting ready to go out eat. i am not sure where.
